Thanks for the replies.

Just to answer your previous comment below..........

>I am not aware of any publicity produced by the DW organisation that suggests that it would be appropriate for 'top marathon crews wishing to put some high mileage training under their belt to take part in the staged challenge>

What caught my attention initally was a letter from the DW Publicist & Marketing dated 21st Nov. announcing the major changes for next year's race..and .mentioning the Endeavor class, it went on to say;

"This will allow touring crews to enjoy the challenge of the course in daylight and also allow racing crews who do not wish to subject their bodies to the extremes of non-stop paddling to participate in the event as part of their winter training".

Which is it to be? Hopefully the issue will be mentioned at the DW meeting in Reading on Jan 10th and that implications for the stage race will be addressed. Looking at the start times there seems to be much potential for interaction between the Endevour class and the various racing classes over the course of the 4 days. If one group are racing and the other effectively touring will this not also lead to potential for trouble at the numerous portages, which from experience are particularly fast, volatile and ultra competitive in the singles section. I think its important at this stage to prempt any potential pitfalls to ensure maximum enjoyment for all paddlers over Easter.

Best Regards

Jim
