Devizes To Westminster A Paddler's Perspective |

The Teddington Tide Timer
A crude calculator - don't take it too seriously!
Notes
The tide timer is programmed using the following algorithm:
Paddlers are assumed to spend 10% of their total time on the tideway. In past years this has proved to be a fairly good rule of thumb for senior paddlers; if you expect to
take less or more time than this then just alter the total time you enter to be 10 times your expected tideway time.
You must reach Westminster within 5 hours of high tide at Teddington to go the whole way with the tide. The optimum time to pass through is the mid-point of the window that this restriction gives.
Disclaimer
Remember, this program is only as good as a) the data you enter and b) the algorithm I used to write it. I can give no guarantees that it is bug-free and can take no responsibility for any direct or indirect consequences of using it. You may wish to make further considerations, e.g. allow yourself some extra time, or expected weather conditions etc. Please view this program as a piece of fun, not the final word in how to time your race! I would appreciate any comments, to david@dw-perspective.org.uk.
